Welcome to NIGHT TO DAWN. Please explore with the understanding that holy objects and garlic may not protect you, for the NTD vampire is no ordinary species. You might meet the blood drinker of yore, or a walking skeleton, or even a human vampire. Then there are the psychic vampires. Recently, NTD has been featuring werewolves and other monsters but always with the bloodlust theme. Our goal is to showcase the work of writers who share a passion for the vampire genre. By featuring upcoming artists and writers, we hope to bring new life to the world of the undead.

NIGHT TO DAWN will offer tales written by Tom Johnson, Lee Clarke Zumpe, and other authors that will appeal to your SPINE!!

Elizabeth Pierce, the artist appearing in the latest issue of Night To Dawn, has agreed to sell her artwork for those visitors of bloodredshadow.com that are interested!  Kindly contact her directly at  475 Chorro Creek Road, Morro Bay, Ca. 93442  for more information.

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions are tight, but I can be persuaded if you’ve got a great tale to tell. I am looking for dark fantasy, new versions of the vampire and related monsters. Think of a mummy that drinks blood, or a creative twist on the zombie. I’m also open to poetry that has the dark fantasy motif. I am actively seeking reviews on books related to science fiction, horror, and fantasy; also crime and adventure.

Encouraged: a tale or poem that makes me afraid to turn out the lights. Also a good book or movie review.

Discouraged: gratuitous love scenes and using any god’s name in vain. Manuscripts should be double-spaced on Currier Times, or Times New Roman. Since the mail runs slow, email submissions in RTF (as attachments) are desirable. I do not publish science fiction for the magazine, but I accept SF for a novel.

Artwork should be submitted in black and white, 8 x 11 or smaller in a form easy to scan or photocopy. Payment:  $5.00 per fiction tale plus one contributor’s copy; $2.50 per poem and flash fiction (1.5K or less); $25.00 for cover art; contributor copy for reviews and interior art.

NTD books feature science fiction, fantasy, dark fantasy, supernatural horror (especially vampire), and adventure. NTD has branched into publishing novels two years ago, and tries to blend a hybrid of horror and science fiction with its work. NTD publishes about six books a year. Query before sending any work. You can find excerpts, reviews and other information on the NTD authors and their works on the following pages. Coffee Time Romance has done a lot of reviews for NTD books.

Unfortunately, I could not include shipping costs with the price for the books. Postage costs have gone way up! The cost of the books has not increased but the prices on the following pages reflect the new shipping rates. I regret to inform you that the increase in postal rates have pushed up the shipping charges: $8.99 for ground mailing. Media mail is available but neither the printing company nor I have any way to track media mail. However, you can get steep discounts in postal rates by ordering multiple copies or ordering ebook copies. Please contact me at barbaracuster@hotmail.com with questions.

COMING SOON!!

Sequel to Alien Worlds by me and Tom Johnson. Images and blurb to follow.

No, it was an oversight. That said, I think highly of Lee and Denny’s work. I’ve been blessed with great writers and illustrators.

  4. [...] In trying to find a publisher for this tale, I learned first-hand how little interest there is in vampire fiction these days. There’s just so much of it out there, regardless of how little the myth is explored beyond the classic models in mainstream fiction. As such, the tale saw publication under the vampire specialist “Night to Dawn” magazine — issue #16 to be specific. If you’re interested in reading the full tale, you can obtain a copy here. [...]
